Nakagin Capsule Tower Building Postcard Kisho Kurokawa Description About This Items This is a promotional postcard that was distributed upon the completion of the Nakagin Capsule Tower Building in 1972. Since the building was sold as individual units (140 capsule-shaped living units were attached, designed as a second house in the city for single people.) , such promotional materials were created. The front side of the postcard features a statement by Kisho Kurokawa that the capsule is a dwelling for “Homo Movens” along with an overview of the building. ※ Kisho Kurokawa published his book “Homo Movens: The Future of the City and Man” (1969, Chuo Koron Shinsha). ※ (Latin homo-movens) A person who seeks the value and purpose he wants and tries to find the meaning of life in actively moving. People who move on their own initiative. A coined word by architect Kisho Kurokawa. The back side provides details about the construction process and internal structure. This is an original from 1972, not a reproduction.My family member was an architecture student over 30 years ago and assisted a professor who was also an architect. Apparently, this was given to him in lieu of a salary. At that time, the Capsule Tower was not yet reappraised and had been forgotten about. The frame is not included.
