The supermarket, the dogs, the kids, the girlfriend, the boyfriend, the mother-in-law, the backpacks, the work stuff…. Everyone carries something different, but we all carry something. With the Merced, you can carry a lot, and stay in shape.

It effortlessly transports heavy loads, bulky cargo and even people. The Merced handles like a normal bicycle but long. If you move within the city, this bike, besides being fun, is very practical.

The Merced’s drivetrain is similar to that of a mountain bike: 34D front single chainring, which in conjunction with the 11/40 (8-speed) or 11/46 (10-speed) cassette allows you to have enough torque for heavy loads and climbs. Plus the riser handlebars are up to 70cm wide allowing you to maintain control of the Merced at all times. To complement the front and back 160mm mechanical or hydraulic disc brake rotos make this bike a great ally to work with, especially if you’re thinking of adding it to your bike messenger fleet.

The BOX is container and structure for the cargbike at the same time. We manufacture it from pine plywood with the CNC router cutting process and it is perfectly assembled and then sewn with carbon fiber stamens. The box can measure 90 or 75 cm long and 44, 55 or 66 cm wide, choose the one that best suits your needs.

We have loaded it with up to 240kg (including the driver) and it was difficult to roll it, it could still be rolled, however it was difficult, so our recommendation is not to load it with more than 220kg.

As for driving, the Merced is driven like a trailer, it takes a few tries to master, but once mastered, nothing will stop you.

To avoid the high shipping costs, since the Merced is a very large bicycle, we decided to send the cargo box unarmed, leaving that part of the assembly to the end user. We prepare a list of steps and videos so that when you receive yourself you can finish putting it together without problems.

You´ll need to put the wooden box together, align it with the frame and sew it with carbon fiber + epoxy resin.

The complete bicycle weights 77lbs (35kg). The box is 56cm wide, 90cm long and 43cm high. You can fit up to 4 small kids inside or all your groceries or 2 big dogs or a friend. Whatever you want. We recommend NOT to put more than 450lbs (205kg) (driver included).

*** Materials ***

Bamboo is one of the strongest natural materials in nature, it cans withstand up to 1ton/cm2 of compression force, this is twice the tolerance of steel.

Bamboo is also lighter making it ideal for bicycle construction. Neither bamboo or carbon fiber are subject to fatigue. Your bike can endure daily use and falls without losing its strength.

Naturally bamboo generates 30% more oxygen than trees, this helps break down Co2 generated by cars. It takes up to 15 years for a regular pine tree to grow, it takes bamboo as little as 3 years to reach the same level, making it a very renewable source.

Joints are hand made from unidirectional 50K Carbon Fiber. Carbon Fiber is an extremely strong, resistant and light material. As well as bamboo, CF is no subject to fatigue, so, in time, there will not be any acumulable damage on your bike. Using unidirectional fibers lets us design how the structure throughout the bike works.

The species of bamboo that we use for the bikes is commonly known as “natural steel” of “solid bamboo”. Other incredible quality is that it absorbs as much as x4 more vibrations than carbon fiber, making our bikes, the smoothest bicycle (ideal for long rides).
