This power line conditioner also doubles down as a surge protector, keeping your gear downstream shielded from sudden spikes of electricity that could otherwise wreck it. Why pay all that cash for awesome sound, just to watch it later go up in smoke? Stop dirty power at the door If you were hosting a party at your house, you'd want to be able to vet the guests arriving, right? No one wants “that guy” double-dipping in the salsa and rifling through their record collection. Feeding your system dirty power is like not having any control over who comes to the party. Electrical and radio interference can tag along, causing humming, hissing, and other noise. The PowerStation is like a bouncer who stops those uninvited guests from coming in. Only the clean power gets through, ensuring better performance in both the short- and long-term. Active noise cancellation iFi's active noise cancellation circuitry is based on military technology. Much like how noise-canceling headphones work, the PowerStation detects incoming interference and generates an equal-but-opposite signal to counteract it. This eliminates noise in a wide range, working especially well with mid and low frequencies. Additional passive filters in each outlet help clean up the higher frequencies as well. Stay grounded If your system isn't properly grounded, you can end up with a lame and distracting buzzing tone. A built-in 4mm banana socket provides the option to connect a grounding cable, letting you create a ground if there's not one already present. This supplementary connection is intelligent though. It won't generate a noisy ground loop, even if the system already has a ground. To help you keep track of the status of your electrical circuit, a nifty LED readout displays statuses for both ground and polarity. This lets you easily monitor and correct issues as they arise.
