Ruby Pilven puts her own unique contemporary twist upon the traditional art of Japanese Nerikomi porcelain making. This sleek, oval-shaped dish is spectacularly decorated with a wonderfully dynamic contemporary abstract design. Playful geometric shapes combine with bold starbursts and lavish gold lustre accents to create an harmoniously balanced yet incredibly exuberant unique work of art. Glistening 12k gold lustre elements add a sparkling accent to the pattern and stylishly trims the top rim adding a touch of opulence to this masterfully hand crafted piece. SIZE: This delightful piece measures approx 220mms in length, 130mms in width and stands 30mms tall. CONDITION: This piece is presented in excellent condition with no chips, cracks, breaks or stains. THE ARTIST: Ruby Pilven is a Ballarat-based artist who creates brilliantly coloured porcelain ceramics. Pilven specialises in Nerikomi porcelain, a Japanese technique of hand-building with coloured clay, which allows her to explore both her fascination with Japanese culture and her connection with the contemporary Australian art scene. Her work oscillates between structured techniques and chance operations. She wants her ceramics to inject joy into everyday life.
