SUPER SLOPER SWL ALL BAND ANTENNA The new Super Sloper All Band Antenna is a quarter wave sloper antenna for all the common shortwave bands!! THERE ARE NO LOSSEY TRAPS OR COILS LIKE OTHER POPULAR ANTENNAS ADVERTISED IN PASSPORT OR ON THE INTERNET! It is a simple but proven design, 5 full size elements, one FOR EACH SW. BAND, a design that ham radio ops have used for decades. This antenna is handcrafted and can be used effectively on all the shortwave bands. It is built with performance and reliability in mind and should receive well for years! ! The biggest advantage of the Super Sloper is that it will fit into almost anyone’s yard! It is only 33′ long if it was stretched out horizontally, but since the Super Sloper is slanted or “Sloped” downward from the center insulator, it takes even less space to install and perform at its best! So, less than 33′ of real estate is needed to get great, full size antenna performance! Almost anyone can find this much real estate! The lower bands operate as 1/8 wave multiples of the lowest half wave resonant frequencies. The 41-49 Meter section made of pure, stranded, 16 Gauge insulated Copper antenna section (Color of wire insulation may vary) and is the main support for the other 4 wire antenna sections. It has been cut and carefully tuned to be resonant on 41-49 Meters, 31 Meters, 22-25 Meters, 16-19 Meters, and 11-13 Meters. It also works well at lower frequencies of the SW spectrum and the MW band. Each band has its own antenna wire section and acts as an individual antenna! It operates as quarter wave sloper which means the wires are a quarter wave long, or multiples of a quarter wave on each frequency band. To maintain a good match, a single wire of 33’ of 18 gauge, copper is attached on the ground side of the coax feedline(blue wire insulation) to serve as a counterpoise, or ground return, or second quarter wave for the antenna. This wire runs vertically down the antenna support to the ground. It can be bent or turned horizontally after it reaches the ground, if the support is not over 33’ high. The wire is insulated and should avoid contact with metal objects like gutters, power lines, or any public cable TV or phone lines. It should NOT be GROUNDED, though! It can be taped to the mast with electrical tape if a metal mast is used, or attached to the house if a wooden structure is used, by looping it around nails or stand- off insulators, as long as insulation remains unbroken. The antenna has a standard coax plug, PL-259. If your radio has a different type of connector or socket for external antennas, check at Universal Radio, as they have adapters for just about any type of plug. All connections have been carefully soldered and the center insulator has been weather proofed for years of reliable service! The center insulator has internally soldered connections between the coax socket and antenna wire. The insulator has an eye hook on top to allow nylon cord or rope to be used to pull up the antenna. Many users attach a pulley to the antenna support and pull up the Super Sloper from the ground! A Super Sloper performs very well at a height of 25-50 feet high. There is a huge capture area to pull in those weak signals from the sky. Since the antenna is resonant on each of the 5 bands, or a good SWR on each band! The antenna is a perfect match for the high quality coax feedline included with the antenna. No tuning is necessary for the Super DX Sloper. Each antenna is been tested on the MFJ-259B Antenna Analyzer for resonance. QUARTER WAVE SLOPER THEORY- The Quarter Wave Sloper antenna is sometimes called a Half Sloper, because hams have used their towers or steel masts as the ground side of the antenna. This arrangement is a proven DX antenna! Hams have used this arrangement because it places the current node of the antenna at the highest point, utilizing maximum radiation and reception. For this reason, the Quarter Wave Sloper is noted as a killer for low frequency DX(40 Meters and below)! Also, with the feed point at the high point it is not subject to attenuation from buildings, trees, etc. as a vertical antenna whose current lobe is at ground level. Since a sloper has an optimized low angle radiation pattern for peak DX performance, it will greatly outperform a dipole mounted at the same height, for those really distant weak signal DX stations. Lowbander has successfully used this quarter wave sloper antenna to hear, work, and confirm over 250+ countries on 40 & 80 Meters! The QSL cards are on the wall to prove it, too! If you are one of the few lucky SWLs who might have a tower or high steel mast to erect the Super DX Sloper on like the hams described above, the 33’ ground side wire with No end insulator can be cut short to about 12” and attached to the tower leg or mast itself with a common stainless steel hose clamp. Strip the insulation off on the 12” piece of wire and insert the copper inside the hose clamp and tighten it with a screw driver making sure the copper wire makes good contact with the tower leg or mast. However, most users will not have a tower or tall steel mast. It is therefore important that the ground side wire be stretched vertically down the antenna support to the ground. It is important to understand that the Counterpoise, return line or ground side wire is not directly connected to ground. It can be bent if the vertical mast or support is less than 33’ high. Look at the diagram in the pics. It is shipped in a Priority Mail medium flat rate box for fast delivery!Customer Satisfaction is my goal .
