Seymour Duncan Antiquity Humbucker Pickup Set Aged Gold 1950’s PAF Pickups Summary Classic PAF tone with the right balance of treble articulation and low end warmth, but with a smoothness that has mellowed with age. Description The Antiquity bridge humbucker delivers that open, airy tone of the great PAF humbuckers that Seth Lover designed in 1955. High notes cut through without being overly bright, and low notes growl with spongy vintage warmth. We wind the bridge model a little hotter for better balance and added warmth, and, as with the neck model, we use the same custom hand-aging process to create an authentic vintage look and sound. Each Antiquity humbucker is hand built in our Custom Shop the way Seth Lover did. The mold we use for our butyrate bobbins was created by the same factory that built theoriginal PAFmold for Gibson. Other key features include our specially manufactured 42AWG plain enamel mag-wire, nickel silver cover, 2.5-inch alnico 2 bar magnet, custom machined metal spacer & maple spacer, single conductor push-back braided lead wire, and nickel silver bottom plate with long mounting legs.Staying true to the original Gibson PAF, these humbuckers are not wax potted which takes you right to the edge of harmonic breakup. For that unmistakable vintage mojo, we wind everyAntiquity humbucker on Seymours original Leesona winding machine from the early Gibson factory in Kalamazoo, MI. Every bottom plate & bar magnet are signed by Seymour to guarantee that you are getting an original Seymour Duncan Antiquity.Like the neck position model, the bridge position humbucker is a faithful replica of the great sounding “patent applied for” humbuckers that Seth E. Lover designed in 1955. The pickup comes with slight variations in DC resistance, just like the old ones. I decided to wind the bridge pickup a little hotter and better balanced for its position. The mounting ring is slightly higher for the increased pickup height. The pickup is not wax potted to retain the sound and appearance of the originals. Again, each pickup is built by hand in my “Antiquity” room and every magnet and bottom plate are signed to guarantee that you are getting an original Seymour W. Duncan Antiquity. Hookup wire includes the classic braided “”push back”” cloth braid wire. I made this model to look and sound like a well-worn ’50s humbucker as originally designed by Seth E. Lover. The pickups are built to traditional standards. Each has its own character and DC resistance, just like the originals. I wanted to give the player a pickup that looks like it’s been played regularly for 40 years, so I aged the gold cover and the poles. Included is a front-tapered mounting ring and the screws that go with it. The pickup is not wax potted, which retains the vintage sound and appearance. Crafted by hand in my “”Antiquity”” room, each pickup is signed on the magnet and bottom plate to guarantee you are getting an original Seymour W. Duncan Antiquity™. Summary Made to look and sound like a 1950s humbucker, this pickup has a smooth, warm neck tone with a sweetness that only an Antiquity can deliver.
