Offered for B-I-N consideration is one (1) Snap on tune up kit for the (obsolete) FAR720 3/8″ drive and FAR750 1/2″ drive air ratchets. This is a custom kit I cobbled together using the Snap on print I provide with every kit I ship. Shown above are the new parts as: a 4-vane set with 4 vane springs, a trigger valve, trigger valve spring, a trigger valve seat, a trigger button cover, an air inlet bushing o’ring, a rotor shaft bearing with shaft o’ring and a ratchet head protective cover. Nobody makes a kit for any FAR720 air ratchets. My kit is a unique offering as shown. There are no ratchet head service parts supplied in this kit. I do not stock them but can find them at CONFISCATORY AND OVER-THE-MOON-PRICES Disassembly instruction for this tool. Read through thoroughly twice before doing this operation and keep the info next to you as advisement during these repairs:1. To get the air motor out (to change vanes) loosen the large nut retaining the ratchet head and rotate it so that a couple threads are still holding the tool together. Do that with a 15″ to 18″ crescent wrench AND a strap wrench (used as a pairing against each other) to loosen the barrel nut without damaging: the plastic protective cover, crushing the aluminum tool barrel or the rubber trigger button cover. There are no wrench flats on the tool barrel for gripping. A strap wrench is the best way to take the nut loose together with a large crescent wrench. Locate the pressure point of the strap wrench strictly against either side of the raised casting on the barrel where the serial number is stamped. Do not place on top of the number but rather to either side of the raised casting.Injecting air pressure through the air inlet with the trigger button depressed will push the air motor forward slightly and loosen it up. I ruined a rubber trigger cover trying to hold the cylinder body with a strap wrench because I was not careful about this. My kits ship with a new trigger cover and a ratchet head cover in case you need one eventually. Unscrew the barrel nut completely to finish the job. Do not be sloppy with the use of air pressure to pull the air motor the rest of the way. There is no o’ring sealing this body to the tool barrel. Clean all grease and dirt for smooth removal with air pressure assistance. Wrap a clean rag firmly around the open end of the tool to control the parts from exploding on your work bench. Be careful, deliberate and slow pulling the cylinder from the barrel as the vanes springs will pop out. Use a clean rag and keep things tight when you pull the rotor out.The vanes need spring tension to seal. One new spring is provided in case. This is a delicate operation. Slow and careful gets it done.2. If you strip the plastic barrel cover off you will need a heat gun or blow dryer to warm things up and soften the old plastic material. Spray some lube or oil down between the plastic cover and the tool barrel. Next, use a long screwdriver blade and slide it around the the inside of the cover like a shoe horn to break the adhesions. The cover will come off with required effort as needed. If you decide to hit on the air inlet bushing to tap the barrel out make sure the inlet bushing is fully seated in the tool. Use an old air fitting screwed into the inlet bushing to extend from the inlet bushing to give yourself a striker button for soft faced hammer (aluminum, brass, rubber, leather, compothane) blows. Then push the barrel out from the grip of the cover. 3. If the air motor front end plate is worn or scored use a piece of marble or granite with a wet paper sheet to smooth and resurface the end plate. Do this just enough to knock down the score marks. NEVER poke anything into the white plastic rear bearing cover on the air inlet side. The plastic plug for the bearing is obsolete. The bearing inside is usually good. The rotor edge clearance to the rear end plate is .002″-.004″. Just clean and oil without disassembly. If you insist on new air motor parts they can be found for CONFISCATORY AND OVER-THE-MOON-PRICES. The shipping weight is 4 ounces with an eBay USPS.com Ground Advantage shipping label.
